For the first time in years, people are talking about the authenticity of each craft. Every film in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2016 has its own compelling story which drawn the attention of many as it reflects real life stories occurred in the past or present time. It depicts the Philippine culture that allows us to step outside and allows us to see more objectively. Because if we have no stories to tell in any realistic sense, we are going nowhere.

Movies are strong influential mediums where audience pull the idea of what is acceptable and tolerable for him/her. It is an instrument in shaping the social culture by transforming the viewers’ opinions creating an enormous impact on how people see things.

Movies are meant for telling great stories not just selling tickets. Filmmakers are meant to create art and support culture, not just to create profit. It may be an award and honor for a filmmaker to earn from a movie he worked hard for, but it is his responsibility to share an eye opening content to start change in our nation – giving him the most prestigious award a filmmaker could ever receive.

There’s more to life than just entertainment. From the past years entries of the Metro Manila Film Festival, it is visible that the content of every film is marketable. They used this advantage to sell what people would easily buy for to create profit. It took long enough to change management but thankfully, MMFF had some major changes that celebrates Filipino artistic excellence, promotes audience development and champions the sustainability of the Philippine movie industry

In a country where there are lots of stories to tell, is already our advantage in making the Philippine film industry be called as our very own. We are experiencing it every day and it could be an inspiration to draw great scenarios. Movies deliver messages in order to make communication with the audience. So if we make movies out of factual situations, every one of us could understand one another. We should patronize films with emotional depth because this is where we have the ability to respond to those emotions in a truly understanding matter. Whether it may be called “mainstream” or “indie” film, the sense of reality should always be present.

As individuals who make decisions of our own likeness, we should observe how a movie convey information as it impacts the way we look upon things. Whether a person is a filmmaker or just an ordinary audience, he/she should always be aware because movies are such great tools when used properly for the right reasons.

The Metro Manila film Festival 2016 treated our old viewing habits. All of the entries made a huge improvement under their film genre. Everyone is impressed at how it all turned out. There are no controversial issues or rivalry among the candidates but the value of recognition of artistic excellence of Filipino filmmakers reigned.

Truly, Maraming Magandang Filipino Films!
